The Day I Realized I Have Super Powers

That's right. I have a secret.

I'm not just Megan, behind this blog. I'm special. (Yes, we know).

No I don't mean this special...
I mean THIS special.
That's right. [collar pop] According to this list, it applies to all moms that can do this...
Except for me, it's really about as glamorous as this...
Nonetheless, I can do it and that considers me a supermom which makes ME special. [insert childish banter, nana nana boo boo].

Of course depending on the source, some would define "supermom" as a mother who can hold down the kids, dog, house chores, while also managing a full-time employment. I agree... to an extent. And yes, this is coming from a stay-at-home mom. Without going into a debate about how stay-at-home moms don't actually work (really, let's not go there) I think the title of "supermom" applies to ANY mom who has children, laundry, dishes, pets, a house to clean, no maid, and still puts dinner on the table for the family by 6:30pm. If you're an employed mom, then I would certainly credit you for having that extra brain power to deal with that on the side of everything else. However, I don't think it distinguishes the challenge of one mom to the other. Because trust me, it's no easy job having your children at your feet while doing said laundry, dishes, house chores, grocery shopping, dinner, etc.

No one mom is better than the other. The end. We are all special.

So back to my gloating...

Sweet Surprises

Well, with the big news continuing to flow... I decided to do something special for as many individuals as I could! My mama, daughter, husband and mother-in-law were able to attend the BIG day on Tuesday, revealing our new baby and... his accessories... however, unfortunately my sister-in-law was not present. Knowing this was just as meaningful to her, I decided to run down to a local craft store and buy some goodies to help share the special news!! :) With a small paper bag, a little confetti and some blue "It's a boy!" Hershey kisses, it was nothing huge, but special indeed...
Moving on to my second surprise... to my dearest volleyball girls! Recently, I've been assisting as a coach for my old highschool's Jr. High volleyball team!!!! It's been an honor to be back on the court, especially with these girls. They're the sweetest, and a really talented group. For weeks, they've been anxious to know what the baby will be, so I figured I would surprise them with a special reveal. And it was too fun!!! I made them wait until the END of practice ;) because I didn't want their bellies full of dessert beforehand... the treat? Cake bites!!! ...a cake pop without the stick; RECIPE to come soon.
And a couple action shots...
Needless to say, they devoured enjoyed them!! I'm so glad!! It's been awhile since I've put my baking skills to good use. It was nice to get back into the groove. And the best part... there were NONE left over!!!! Hooray! It's usually quite the opposite. I was very pleased on that account. ;) Although a handful of girls were disappointed I wouldn't be able to use their own name for the new baby, they were happy to hear the news... and I mean, when you're served cake bites who can complain, right? I love these girls!!

THUNDER ...na na na na na na na na...THUNDER!!

...a little AC/DC for ya! ...no? ...oh well, I couldn't resist.

...the largest fireworks display in North America.

As I've grown, the meaning of this particular weekend rapidly changed from one extreme to the other; in quite a fascinating cycle. As children, we go for the fireworks; teens go for the hangout; college years revolve around the unlimited consumption of adult beverages; then as parents, along with children of our own, we are back again just for the fireworks... back to the basics! ;)
Thunder got its name simply by "...adequately defining its intensity"; and that it did.

Although, Thunder is known for its 100,000+ audience, it's always questionable whether it'll reach high attendance each year depending on weather conditions  - flood in 2011. The weather surely dictates that decision for this household - it's COLD today!!

Regardless, I'm sure you'll find us bundled up; enjoying another year of this spectacular tradition.
