My Haute Obsession

Nails have always been one of my daily staples. I like to manicure them often [aka daily] and it's very unlikely you'll find my nails unpolished. I've even shared numerous posts of my favorite shades; like here and here. Well now I have found my newest obsession!!! The latest nail trend has been gel nails [shellac, LCN, etc] and I have tried them all. There's been pros and cons to all, but none of them have impressed me as much as this new line of gel polish.

Introducing, Haute Polish.
I could go on for days how much I love this new invention of polish. It has base coat, polish and top coat all in one. The gel effect keeps your nails super shiny, and the removal? It's as easy as the application! For more details, you can find them here on their site. Today I'm just sharing my excitement of this product through a few photos.

The only thing you need is an LED light, and two short before/after cleansing application. You can get a kit [including the light], or you can purchase the Replenisher Supply Kit separately. Fortunately, my friend Jess had an LED light I was able to borrow to test this out - which I will soon go purchase considering I'm now obsessed. With that said, I bought the Replinisher Supply Kit and was set to go!
The application is so simple, it'd been silly to photograph. Not to mention my photography skills are not that impressive with one hand while applying polish. No bueno. But I did, however, have to capture the removal process. It was so simple and the fact that there was no damage done to my nail enamel was even more impressive!
I could be a walking promo for this polish. I love it that much. [chillax, Megan]

The color I used is nude, but they come in a variety of color. So shinyyyyy!
 That's it, folks!!

Shade of the Week

Since it's been some time now, I decided to allow my inner nail technician to take over and get a little crazy with some new colors. I say crazy, but all I mean is jumping into a fad I never thought I'd be part of. I've never tried to get into too many fads, given sometimes they are just that and the world will soon be moving on to something new. Remember the feather extensions?
Are people still wearing these? I'm not a fashion expert, so I can't really say if it's here or gone. All I know is that I don't see it too often anymore. Which is my point. A fad.

So where am I going with this. I'm leading into the nail polish fad that's exploded in the fashion industry. Although, nail art isn't really something new. I remember some pretty tacky designs back when I was in high school. However, the nail fad these past couple years have been to polish all nails one color while painting one or two others a different shade. And NOW, it seems to be all about the design of said different-shaded-finger. They are so creative, you never know what people will think of next.
So again, getting to the point. I have decided to dip into this newish nail fad, and see what it's all about. I have always had a creative bone in me, but it's not something that just comes out naturally. I have to be inspired. Well folks, yesterday I was inspired. By who you may ask? My best friend, Jess. Ha! Not that that's funny, but to no surprise we were thinking about doing this new nail trend at the same time. It just took  a short conversation of "I think I might do this..." "oh yea, I was thinking of doing it too!". And that was it.

So here we are.

The products I used for my nail fad trial experience, was none other than my good ol friend, Sally Hansen
For my ringer finger (right), I used Complete Salon Manicure Earl Gray 320 and the design was made with Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear White On 300.

For all other nails (left), I used Complete Salon Manicure Commander In Chic 290.

Being that I'm right handed, I was easily able to polish my left hand with no hassle. So I decided to paint one hand, and share it with you! But please, bare with me. Have you ever taken a hand picture before? Unless you're obsessively marveled at your own hand, I doubt you have. It's awkward. Do I hold the nail polish bottle? Do I just lay them flat on the table? Bad angle/good angle. This is the best I could do.
Amateur, I know. But hey it was fun.

Now go link up with one of my newest faves.

Shade of the Week

With the spooky holiday quickly approaching, I figured I'd go along with it for my weekly polish as well. Again, I'm not a big Halloween dress-up participant, but I can still keep it festive. With that said, while my toes are rocking Beautiful Berry, this week I've chosen a much darker shade for my nails:

Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear Grey Area #061

This photo displays quite a deep grey, but depending on the number of coats you apply you can choose to make it as light or dark as you prefer.

I choose just two coats to give my nails a dramatic, but chic look for the fall. Just because Halloween is gloomy, doesn't mean it can't be fashionable as well. ;) Touche?

Shade of the Week

Trying to think of some clever title to go along with my weekly polish change-up. I don't know if this will stick, but it's good for now. I didn't realize I could actually make a post out of such a small accessory, but by-jove I have managed to do so these last two weeks. So continuing with this new tradition, this week I'm rocking an old favorite!

Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure Shell We Dance 160.

This has been one of my most popular staples for years. The photo color is much more pink than the actual shade result. It's subtle, yet enough color to make a nice classy statement. Love love love.
